Former Resident Dies In Tennessee
Prof. William Emery, a former music teacher at Sturart's Academy in this city, died at his home in Clarksville, Tenn., Saturday morning following a brief illness.
Prof. Emery would have been eight five years old, November 10. He was born in Daventry, Northamptonshire, England, and came to this country in 1866, locating in Shelbyville, where he taught music in Stuart's Academy and was organist of the Southern Presbyterian Church for twelve years. Upon leaving this city in 1882 he located in Clarksville, where for forty seven years he was organist at Trinity Church.
Mr. Emery married Miss Amelia Stuart, the daughter of the late Rev. D. T. Stuart, principal and owner of Stuart's Academy in this city. Surviving are his wife, two daughters and a son, Arthur Stuart Emery, Washington City. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at Clarksville, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery in that city.
