Obituary from the Nashua Telegraph, Thurs., 1 Dec 1881 - Mrs. Sally Swain, a venerable mother whose age was 90 years and 6 months died at the residence of her son, Mr. George Swain last night. Her death was from no perceptible disease. It was from wearing out, failing strength, and general debility consequent to a ripe old age. Mrs. Swain was a native of Amherst, NH. Her married life was spent in Boston and Western, N.Y., and since her widowhood, now 33 years, she has resided with her children. During the last 12 years consecutively with her son at whose home she died. Mrs. Swain was the mother of Rev. Leonard Swain whose memory is revered by the people of the old Pearl St. Church and society of which he was the first pastor and hundreds of others of the old Nashuans, and of Dr. Charles Swain of Arkansas, and George Swain of Nashua. The deceased was a member of the Pilgrim Church. ... The funeral will take place Sat., afternoon at 2:00. Friends and relatives are invited without further notice. The casket was a miniature sheaf of grain and sprays of wheat. Burial was in the City Tomb.
