John Lewert, 75, of 321 Pennsylvania avenue, die at 8 o'clock Thursday evening in the Community Hospital from complications after an illness of several years. He entered the hospital yesterday morning.
He was born in Scranton, August 8, 1877, the son o the late Carl and Marie Hoffman Lewert. Since moving to Sunbury, 37 years ago, he had been employed as a sheet metal worker by Arthur Morris and by Hackett's East End Hardware Store. He was a member of the Good Intent Fire Company.
He is survived by a brother, Walter Lewert, this city, and a sister,Mrs. May Musseus, Jersey City, N. J.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. from the Wirt Funeral Home, Cliftmont, with Rev. William M. Hoover, Hamilton, officiating. Burial will be in Sunbury Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday evening.

At the time that he was born, Scranton and all of Lackawanna County were part of Luzerne County.
