James Chalmers, a bachelor farmer
who lived up north of Princeton, died
last Thursday afternoon from a stroke
of paralysis that attacked him the
Monday before. The funeral was held
last Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock,

Mr. Chalmers was born in the state of
Ohio, Feb. 4, 1827. He came to Minnesota
thirty-six years ago and has lived in and
about Princeton most of that time.
His father died while the family was
yet young and the care of the family
fell upon James, the eldest son. His
niece, Miss Ella Charles kept house
for him. His father and mother, three
brothers and a sister preceded him to
the great beyond. Two brothers,
George and William, and one sister,
Mrs. Martha Thompson of LaPorte,
Indiana, survive him.
