Sally Alborn, 87, of Silver Bay, went home to be with the Lord on September 25, 2012 in Viewcrest Health Center, Duluth.

She was born on June 16, 1925 to Jacob and Hilda (Fletchner) Gifford in Burt, Iowa, where she grew up and attended schools. Sally married Frank Alborn in 1943, and they moved to Silver Bay in 1954. She was self-employed as a hairdresser for many years. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, and the Ladies Guild, the VFW Auxiliary, and the Silver Bay Golden Agers. She enjoyed baking, cooking, entertaining, sewing, camping, fishing, garage sales and playing games with her grandchildren. Her family and grandchildren were very important to her.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank, sisters, Peggy, Jean, Martha, Dorothy, Geneva, Lila, and Beulah, a grandson, Kermit Mattson, and a great-granddaughter Hadley Ava Anderson.

She is survived by a son, Lon of Silver Bay and his sons, Brent (Danielle) Alborn and children Queana, Morgan, Westley, and Noah, and Brian and Joel Hare, Logan and Clayton Alborn; daughter, Susan (Tom) Gearin of Forest Lake and children, Angela (Brian) Johnson and children Ashley and Carson, Melissa (Mark) Anderson and children, Madeline, Marcus and McKinley, Molly Gearin and her son Logan, and Jacob (Kayla) Gearin; daughter, Diane (Marty) Mattson of Silver Bay and their children, Matthew Mattson and his children Autumn and Dusty, Chelsey Mattson (Justin Gilbertson) and children Austin and Carter, and Trent Mattson and his child Winnie; a brother, Bernard Gifford of Burt, Iowa; sisters, Joan Gifford of Burt, and Sherry Schmidt of West Bend, Iowa.

Services will be held at 1 PM on Monday October 1, 2012 at Faith Lutheran Church in Silver Bay. Burial will be in Silver Bay Cemetery.
