An exploding cook stove caused the Knox home to burn killing Jessie, brother Bobby and a visiting woman named Marie Cutshall. Mrs. Knox had gone to a neighbors and Mr. Knox was in Cement. Sister, Ila Knox, was in the yard with her brother, Walter, Jr. known as, Dub. She ran for her mother but it was too late when they returned.
