Funeral services for Mr. Hollis Wayne "Jiggs" Buckner will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in the New Energy Cemetery. Family will receive friends Tuesday evening beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Mr. Hollis Wayne "Jiggs" Buckner, age 93, of Kennard, passed away Monday, September 17, 2012 in the Heartland at Willowbrook Nursing Home in Houston. Mr. Buckner was born September 20, 1918 in Sweetwater and had lived in Kennard most of his lifetime. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. Buckner was retired having owned and operated a Trucking Company and was a member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughters, Mignette Polk and husband, John of Houston, Mignon English of Houston; granddaughters, Karen "Kate" Rushing of Houston, Tammy Hall of Dickinson; grandson, Joe Spinks, Jr. of Humble; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Rosa Lee Buckner of Jacksonville; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives, including, Junior Wink of Kennard. Preceded in death by wife, Lou Ella Buckner; numerous brothers and sisters, including Pete Buckner and Cutter Buckner.
