Louis Bauerle Dead
At his home in College addition, Lexington, Mo., Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock, at the age of 73 years, of cancer of the stomach, occurred the death of Louis Bauerle.
Mr. Bauerle was born in Baden-Baden, Germany, in 1830. He came to St. Louis in 1849 where he lived until 1856 and where he married Miss Sophia Wish in February, 1852, who came from the old country with his family.
At the time he came to Lexington he was a contractor and builder and was engaged by Mr. Joseph McGrew to build a mill, hemp factory and rope walk. The hemp industry at that time was the greatest in the west and this factory was one of the most important manufacturing interests of Lexington and became noted all over the state. In later years Mr. Bauerle engaged in other business and was always considered a successful man. His wife and the following children survive him: Mrs. Lena Moore, Lee and Otto, of Lexington, Joe of the U.S. army and J.C. and Mrs. A.K. Sandifer, of Kansas City.
The funeral took place from the Catholic church Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. Father Costello conducting the services. Interment at Machpelah cemetery.
