Dr. Patsy Felicia Bradford Bearkley went on to be with the Lord on Friday morning, September 14, 2012. Born in Alcoa, Tenn. on June 21, 1940, she was the oldest of four children born to Mackie (1916 to 1974) and Henrietta Bradford. Affectionately known as Dr. BB, she earned her Master's degree in Business and her Doctor's in Gerontology. During the course of her life, she worked as a dietician for hospitals, as a civilian for the Navy, as a government employee on teams that evaluated nursing homes and facilities, and as a private contractor for various agencies dealing with the aging population. More than four and a half years ago, Patsy was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and began her battle with cancer.
She was loved and will be missed by all whom she came in contact with.
The family will receive friend from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2012, at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home. The Going Home Service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2012, First Baptist Church Hollins with the Rev. Harvey Saunders officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements by Hamlar-Cutis Funeral Home, Roanoke.
