Roy Carson
Wood River -- Roy A. Carson, 81, died at 8:05 a.m. Monday, January 24, 1994, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was a pipefitter on construction with Pipefitters Local 553 for 34 years, retiring in 1974. He owned the Crystal Inn in South Roxana for 18 years and was a partner at Bojac's Sports Bar in Wood River. He was a member of Wood River Moose Lodge 1349.
Born in Fayette County February 18, 1912, he was the son of the late John L. and Daisy (Ellison) Carson.
His wife, the former Jean Oller, died in 1968.
Surviving are a son, Michael Carson of Edwardsville; a daughter, Pamela Stone of East Alton; four grandchildren, Jenna Stone of East Alton, Michael Carson II of Edwardsville, Terri Eubank Heathcott of Wood River and Greg Eubank of Bethalto; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Loyd Carson of Godfrey; and a sister, Gladys McCoy of Blue Mound.
Preceding him in death were a daughter, Pat Arnold in 1969; a brother, Clarence Carson; and a sister, Rosa Merriman.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Howard Todd Taylor will officiate.
Burial will be in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to the Irving J. Sellkoff Occupational Medicine Program, St. Louis University Science Center, 3635 Vista Ave., St. Louis, MO 63110-0250.
