Obit from the Cameron Herald April 1, 1926--Mrs. Dawkins McQueen, nee Miss Hattie Smith, born in Georgia, 54 years
ago, died at her home near Lilac on Sunday March 28, 1926 following a long illness from cancer. She is survived by
her husband, Dawkins McQueen, two sons, Messars Bill and
Sam Ewen Cummings of Minerva. Mrs McQueen was a lifelong
Methodist and her funeral was conducted by Rev Black, Methodist pastor of Davilla. Coleman and Eplen, undertakers of Cameron had charge of funeral arrangements.
Mrs McQueen was the youngest sister of C.C. Smith of Cameron and with his family he attended his sister for
several days before her death and remained for the funeral
which was held at the Lilac church with interment in the
Lilac Cemetery.
