Wellesley, Mass. - "Stacia" Knoetgen, 84, of Wellesley, Mass., and formerly of Mount Upton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, July 24, 2001, at the Newton, Wellesley Alzheimer Center in Wellesley.
She was born July 9, 1917, in Binghamton.
She was predeceased by her mother, Sabrina Petras, and stepfather, Luke Seward.
On July 22, 1939 she married Joseph Thomas Knoetgen in Great Bend, Pa. He predeceased her Jan. 29, 1987.
Stacia, alongside her husband, Tommy, owned and operated the well-known Rock Inn Restaurant and Motel in Mount Upton from 1937 until there retirement in 1975.
Mrs. Knoetgen was a longtime member of the Sacred Heart Church in Sidney.
She is survived by four daughters and son-in-law, Linda and Jim Abraham of New Hartford, Judy and Mike Manzo of Winchester, Mass., Susan and Emil Routhier of Hollister, Mass., and Mary and Andy O'Hara, Unadilla; a sister and brother-in-law, Jenny and Fred Petrovich of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, a brother, Harold Sewart of Kirkwood; 10 grandchildren
; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. her.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2001, at the Sacred Heart Church in Sidney, with Rev. Gordon Polenz officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Unadilla. Friends are invited to call at the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. in Sidney, after 1 p.m. Thursday, with her family in attendence from 7 to 9 p.m.
