BIOGRAPHY:

Esther was born April 21, 1908 to William and Gertrude (Formschlag) Cheskey in Walworth County, South Dakota. Esther was baptized October 4, 1908 in South Dakota, according to the U.S. Evangelical Lutheran Church Records. Esther's father immigrated to the United States from Germany in 1867.

Esther married Jess Harvey Mills in South Dakota on September 9, 1939. Jess and Esther resided in Omak, Washington where Jess lived. Esther also had family members who lived nearby in Washington.

Esther was advised by her Dr. not to get pregnant due to a heart condition. Esther loved children and wanted a baby. During her pregnancy, she stayed with her in-laws Unie and Frank Corbin, bedridden, in the room next to the kitchen. Frank got up, made coffee, went to give her a cup, and found her dead. Esther was just days or weeks from her delivery date. Jess was working with brother Allen Orndoff when he got the call from his mother Unie.

(Death certificate state Esther was seven months pregnant; however, family members present with her state she was only a few days from due date).
