PHILLIPS - Azel Irving Campbell, 86, died on Sept. 6, 2012, at the Sandy River Center for Health Care in Farmington. He was born on Jan. 3, 1926, in Phillips, the son of Clarence and Ezma (Springer) Campbell. He was educated in the schools of Phillips.
During World War II, he served in the Marine Corps being stationed in the South Pacific.
He married Gladys Brown on March 8, 1947, in Farmington, and she died on Dec. 24, 1992.
He was employed at the Forster Manufacturing Co. In Strong for 21 years, retiring as a foreman. He was a member of the Prescott Fairbanks American Legion Post 64 in Phillips.
He enjoyed carpentry and working on his house.
He is survived by his stepdaughter, Lorraine Berry, of Avon; his stepson, Roland Coolong, of Farmington; his special granddaughter, Dawn Coolong, of Strong; his brother, Elwood Campbell, of Kingfield; and many grandchildren. He was predeceased by his stepson, Eugene, and wife Geraldine Coolong.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at Mile Square Cemetery in Avon, with the Rev. Constance Maginnis officiating. (Morning Sentinel 9/11/2012)
