Captain Mayhew Folger was a whaler who was the captain the ship Topaz when he rediscovered the Pitcairn Islands in 1808. Pitcairn Island was the hiding place of the crew of the HMS Bounty. One of the Bounty's mutineers was still alive at the time.
∼Captain Folger discovered the mutineers from the "Bounty" on Pitcairn Island on his third circumnavigation of the globe. He built the first home in Massillon, and was the first postmaster. Also, the first canal toll collector.
He was moved here from the Union Cemetery.
