Philip Becker was born in Waldulversheim, Hessen, Darmstadt, Germany to the parents of Friedrich Becker and Anna Maria Preissler on 23 Nov 1843. The oldest of a family of nine. His parents and four of his siblings crossed the ocean and landed in New York, New York on 4 Aug 1854. They farmed in Richfield, Washington County, WI. On 30 Sep 1868, Philip married Anna Katherine Endres and they had nine children together. Together they owned and operated a 110 acre farm outside of Ackerville, WI.

Philip passed away from heart failure at the age of 64 on 16 Apr 1908. His wife Anna had passed not 3 months prior on 22 Jan 1908. Both his parents preceded him in death as died his first son Johannes Becker (1871-1894).

He is survived by his children Annie (Bruno) Zimmerman of Polk, Katherine (Emil) Zimmerman of Schleisingerville, Fred of Polk, Henry (Katie) Becker of Richfield, and Andrew, Philip, Carl, Mathew and Emil all are still living at home. He is also survived by his brothers Friedrich, Henry, and John, and his sisters, Katherina, Anna Maria, Elizabeth, and Magdalena.

The Harland paper read "Mr. Becker was a hardworking farmer, honest and upright in character and highly esteemed by all who know him."
