Verna Mai Haggard, 89, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, August 30, 2012 at The Bridge at Ridgely.

She was a retired secretary with the State of Tennessee Department of Human Services, member of First Baptist Church and a member of Tennessee Association Public Welfare Retirees.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fairview Cemetery with Mr. Rick Crawford officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Haggard of Dyersburg; a daughter, Charlotte Hill of Dyersburg; two grandchildren, Ashley McCallen Bell and husband, Bryan, of Waukesha, WI and Tech Sergeant James McCallen IV of Clearview, FL; and two great-grandchildren, Katie Bell and Chloe Bell, both of Waukesha, WI.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Kay Haggard; her parents, William and Jeannie Flatt Mallard; a sister, Virginia M. Williams; and two brothers, Jack F. Mallard and William E. Mallard, Sr.

Pallbearers will be Tech Sergeant James McCallen, IV, Bryan Bell, William Mallard, Olen Funderburk, Lloyd Collier, Al Wade, Randy Brooks and Lowell Beck.

The family requests that memorials be directed to First Baptist Church Youth Ministry or Music Ministry.
