Harold L. LeMahieu, age 91, of Sheboygan, died peacefully with his family by his side on Monday afternoon, August 27, 2012 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, formally the LeMahieu farm where he was raised.

Harold was born to the late Peter and Katie Lievense LeMahieu on September 21, 1920. He graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1938 where he enjoyed playing basketball. He worked at Bemis before enlisting in the Army from 1942 to 1945 where he served in the 947 Field Artillery Battalion, 1st Calvary in the South Pacific in W.W.II. where he was awarded the Bronze Star.

Hal received his plumbing license and worked until he was 85. He owned his own business call LeMahieu Plumbing & Heating for many years. Hal married Penelope Wolf in 1962. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, the American Legion and the V.F.W. Post 9156. He enjoyed going to his cabin in Athelstane where he would hunt and fish. He also enjoyed all of his fishing trips to Canada. Hal also enjoyed watching sports and going to Brewer games. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Penny; his daughter Pamela, Asheville, NC, and his son Steve (Vicky), Sheboygan Falls; his grandchildren, Josh and Adam LeMahieu; his sister, Mildred Wagner; sisters-in-law, Vonnie Daehn, Lenore LeMahieu, Marian LeMahieu, Lorraine LeMahieu and Fern LeMahieu; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. he was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Kattie LeMahieu, six brothers, Marvin, Lewis, Robert, Eugene, Willard and Andrew, three sisters, Nelda Pietenpol, Loretta Droppers and Lucille Pietenpol; two daughters, Dawn and Cheryl, and a son, John.

Funeral services for Hal will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at the Lippert-Olson Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Avenue. The Rev. Gregory Whelton will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place in the Garden of Valor at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
