Tragic Death of Robert Johnston:
The people of this vicinity were shocked Monday afternoon by the news of the sudden and tragic death of Robert Johnston. Wm. Johnson (sp) aided by John Wadley was shingling the house next to Mr. Johnstonís on the west which was recently purchased by his father-in-law, J. L. Bouton. Seeing that a storm was nearing he secured the services of Mr. Johnston to help finish the job before it struck them. He and Mr. Wadley were working near the top of the roof and when the strong wind which preceded the rain struck them he fell to the ground striking in such a way as to break his neck, causing death instantly.
V.C. Bailey who was living in house assisted the other men to carry him to his home and aid was summoned but he did not move after the fall.
