Mrs. Mattie Persons
Ellisburg - Mrs. Mattie Persons, 60, widow of Simon Persons, died at 6 p.m. Saturday in the Brunswick hospital, Brunswick, GA. She was admitted Friday with pneumonia.
The funeral was held this afternoon at the Carpenter-Stoodley funeral home in Belleville, Rev. Willis E. Danks, pastor of the Belleville Methodist church, officiating. Burial was in the Ellisburg Rural cemetery.
Mrs. Persons is survived by three daughters. Mrs. Oric (Catherine) Bradbury, Mannsville road; Mrs Gordon (Margaret) Miller; Anchorage, Alaska; Mrs. Robert (Leona) Prosser, Jr., Townsend, GA.; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Noel (Jennie) Claflin, lacona; Mrs. Clarence (Essie) Sparks, Richland; Mrs. Lynn (Ida) Cooley, Sandy Creek; three brothers, Raymond Sturtevant, Richland; Jess, Sandy Creek; and Frank, Vincentown, N.J.
Mrs Persons was born May 27,1899, in the town of Ellisburg, a daughter of Fred and Olive Lyons Sturtevant. She was married to Simon Persons on May 15, 1917, Mr. Persons died in an auto-train accident at the Farmer's Crossing, Pelaski, Oct. 16, 1935. Mr Persons was a farmer in the Ellisburg-Belleville area. After her husband's death, Mrs. Persons worked as a housekeeper in the Mexico area, until she went to live with a daughter, Mrs. Prosser, in Georgia, last November.
