Flora Bryant Reynolds lived a challenging life few of us in the modern era can imagine.
As most pioneer-women, she married young, at 17, (1894), and immediately, she and her husband Oscar (my great grandfather) started a family.
Times were hard in the early mid-west, and I am sure, rewards were few. Her husband died very young, at 40, (1910), and she was left with mouths to feed and the vulnerable position of being a widow with no income.
Eventually Flora remarried, to an Albert Akrum, (July 29, 1918). By then, some of her children were already starting their own lives. Flora was 41, Albert was 55.
By October 15, 1927, Albert passed away and Flora was again left a widow (some sources state, Oct 10, 1927).
Flora, eventually, remarried to Walter C. Bell, and from that time on, she was known to the family as Grandma Bell (kinda confusing to me, her grandson).
