Lyle Virgin, 84
ESCONDIDO - Lyle Wayne Virgin, 84, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2006.
Born Jan. 2, 1922, in Idaho, he lived in San Diego County for 58 years. He was a carpenter for 60 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Carpenter's Union and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed woodworking.
Mr. Virgin was preceded in death by his siblings, Merle Virgin, Leola Wolters and Valaire Nelson.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Mona Lee, Cheryl Lynette and Phillip Marriott, Karen Elaine and Frank Grant, Harold Wayne and Beverly Virgin, Julie Ann and Rakesh Kumar, Shauna Jean and Tom Andrews, Kim Allen, Dana Kent and Celesta Virgin, Blair Steven and Neta Virgin, Charles Edward and Leslie Elliott Virgin, and Glen Jay and fiancee Heidi Wilbur; siblings Shirley Peppers, Cleon Virgin, Paul Virgin, Bill Scott, Milo Bishop and Garn Bishop; 36 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Sept. 9, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1917 E. Washington Ave. in Escondido.
Private interment at Oak Hill Memorial Park is planned.
The family suggests donations to the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund, 1917 E. Washington Ave., Escondido, CA 92027.
