Alvis E. Brown, Sr., 80, of Felsenthal, passed away Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at the Medical Center of South Arkansas. He was born Nov.12, 1931, to Charlie Derrell and Katie Lee Brown in Jonesboro, LA. He was a retired fireman with the El Dorado Fire Department and a chemical operator for Great Lakes Chemical. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Huttig. Preceding him in death were his parents and his loving wife of 58 years, Georgia Brown. Survivors include his two sons, Gene Brown, Jr. (Shelia), and David Brown, both of Felsenthal; daughter, Shelia Sipes (Larry) of Little Rock; sister, Laverne Barker of El Dorado; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and numerous friends. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Young's. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. today (Aug. 16) at Young's Chapel, under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors, with the Rev. Donny Hargett officiating. The family will be at 358 Short Circle in Felsenthal. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association Memorial & Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, KS 66601-1653.
