Lester, driving his Fronty Ford, was fatally injured, at the Benton, Illinois, fair. Kuehn, who was running second in the twenty mile race, when on the 33rd lap he attempted to look behind him and lost control of his machine.
Lester had set out to attain fame as an auto racer, was driving a specially built car that was designed just for him.
Kuehn was born and raised in East St.Louis, Il., and received his education at the Alta Sita grade school and the East St. Louis high school. He was a member of the Masonic order and also the Bricklayers union.
