Vassie was the daughter of Josiah Garland Jordan (ca. 1861-1932) and Lula Gertrude (Jarrett) Jordan (1862-1925,) who had married in 1878 in Thomas County, Georgia. Her maternal grandparents were J. G. Jordan and Mary (Culver) Jordan.

Vassie and David G. Libby (a bookkeeper by profession) married ca. 1909 and had, in addition to the three unnamed children buried in their plot, (at least) the following children:
* Frances Libby Dyke McNair (1910-2002),
* Evelyn Libby Miller (1912-1996,) &
* Marian Libby (Mrs. Earl) Brown (1916-1990.)
