Edward was the son of Edward Howard and Martha Rowe, born about 1690 in Lynn, Essex, Massachusetts. On November 6, 1714, he married Eleanor Tarbox in Lynn. She was the daughter of Jonathan and Eleanor Tarbox of Lynn. They settled in Lynn and had six children there, between 1715 and 1724. They probably moved to Hebron, Connecticut sometime after 1724, because their daughter Jemima married in Hebron in 1740. Later, they must have moved to Thetford, Orange, Vermont, because they both died there; Eleanor about 1770, Edward on July 26, 1781.
