Maynard J. Bonesteel, 88, of Cheyenne died Tuesday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 24, 1906, in Grand Junction, Iowa, and had lived in Cheyenne since 1962.
Bonesteel was retired from the U.S. Air Force, serving during World War II and the Korean conflict. As a construction engineer, he helped build the Pentagon and the China-Burma Road. He was award two bronze stars during his service in the Air Force.
He married Amanda Fleetwood on May 19, 1962 in Cheyenne.
He was a member of Capital Lodge 54 A.F. and A.M., American Legion, Shrine Club, the Retired Officers Association, Sojourners, Quarterback Club, Cowboy Joe Club, was a life member of the the American Legion, and was a past member of the Kiwanis Club.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the Schrader Chapel with the Rev. Michael Schaefer officiating. Interment will be in Mashulaville, Miss. Masonic graveside services will be provided by Capital Lodge 54 A.F. and A.M.
Friends may contribute to Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children.
