Harold B. Rasmussen, age 94 of Rhinelander, passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2012, at his home.

He was born on December 3, 1917, in Belmont, Wisconsin to Ingvor and Della (Brandt) Rasmussen. Following graduation, Harold was employed at Harneschfeger Corp. in Milwaukee.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II from 1941 to 1945. He married Mary Alyce Brunette on January 6, 1945.

Following his military discharge, he attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering as a student and part-time instructor. Harold moved to Rhinelander where he was employed at Frasier's Plumbing and Heating for 17 years. In 1963, he started his own business, Rasmussen Plumbing and Heating, retiring in 1979.

Following the death of Mary Alyce, he married Lois Glinski Mau on May 26, 1978.

Among his interests, Harold enjoyed snowmobiling, the Brewers and Packers, and fishing, enjoying trips to Canada. He also enjoyed visits to the casino where he played the nickel slots.

Harold is survived by his wife, Lois Rasmussen of Rhinelander; a daughter, Susan M. Rasmussen Wyler of Rhinelander; a step daughter, Cindy (Mick) Stewart of Mansfield, OH; daughter-in-law, Linda (Harry) Rasmussen Helwig of Rhinelander; two step sons, Randy (Janet) Mau of Plano, IL and Mark Mau of Anchorage, Alaska; a sister-in-law, Mildred Rasmussen of Almond, WI; two grandchildren, Dane Rasmussen (Mike Leslie) of Boston, MA and Michelle (Peter) Zawadski of Cleveland, OH; three step grandchildren, Jessica Stewart of Mansfield, OH, Dawn Mau of Dublin, OH, and Mark Mau Jr. of Florida; and nieces, Helen (Arnie) Heise of New London, WI and Bonnie (Larry) Lindsay of Mondovi, WI.

In addition to his first wife, Mary Alyce, he was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Paul Rasmussen; and a brother, Arnold Rasmussen.

A memorial mass will be offered for Harold at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Nativity of Our Lord / St. Joseph's Catholc Church with Fr. Tom Thakadipuram officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of mass on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at the church. Inurnment will follow in Northland Memorial Park. Carlson Funeral Home is assisting Harold's family with arrangements.
