Mrs. Ecker, formerly Caroline Schwobe, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Schwobe, was born in the town of Stockbridge, Calumet County, Feb. 11, 1866. In her childhood she attended the public school of her community.
On January 15, 1889, she was married to Frederick Ecker, who preceded her in death in 1934. The ceremony took place at Kloten, the Rev. Voorjan officiating. After their marriage the young couple resided for about eleven years at Houghton, Mich. About 38 years ago they returned to the town of Stockbridge and located on the Schwobe homestead where the deceased spent the remaining years of her life.
The deceased was a devoted member of the Christian Mothers’ society.
She leaves to mourn her, two sons, Joseph and home; August, town of Stockbridge; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Kiesner, Chilton; Mrs. Mary Durban, at home; thirteen grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Mary Meisel, Kiel; besides a host of friends who will miss her friendly counsel and cheerful disposition.
Two daughters preceded her in death, Mrs. Theresa Schluchter, in 1930 and Agnes in infancy. Ten years ago, after the death of her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Mary Durban, returned to the home of her parents with her three small children. Mrs. Ecker took then into her home and the kindness and indulgence toward then was a matter to excite the admiration and respect of the community.
