SOUTHWELL
Mrs. Stephen Southwell, well known resident of Sage township, died suddenly and unexpectedly at an early hour Sunday morning. She had made a trip to the city in usual health the day previous, and was taken seriously ill in the night. Dr. Boulton was called and administered medicine for relief of severe pain internally, leaving her somewhat relieved. When he reached home a call for the undertaker preceded him. He was unwilling to accept the sad news, however, and returned to find it only too true.
Her death is ascribed to neuralgia of the heart, with gall stones contributing. Funeral services will be held Thursday (today) at the residence at 10 a.m. and at the Ridge church at 11 a.m., conducted by Rev. Westphal..
Alvina Schram Southwell was the daughter of Peter and Sarie Marie Schram, and was born in Gamsbourgh, Canada; Feb. 3, 1843, and died at the age of 69 years, 10 months and 16 days. She was married to Stephen Southwell, May 22, 1864, and to them six children were born, three of whom with the husband are living as follows Rev. George Southwell of Whittemore; William Southwell of Bay City; Mrs. Wirtz of Oberlin.
Mrs. Southwell had resided on the farm where she died for many years, and was held in high esteem by a large circle of friends. Gladwin County Record dated 1-2/1913 Column – 4 Page – 1.
