Prescilla (MILLICAN) Barker's father William A. Millican came to Brazos Co., TX in 1821 in the first 300 Families and they were brought by Stephen F. Austin. They are known as The Austin Colony/First 300 Families to Settle Texas. Stephen F. Austin came to Texas under an agreement with the Mexican government. Members of the Millican family were among the first settlers in this area, near the confluence of the Brazos and Navasoto Rivers. The local population rapidly increased over the next 20 years and the Congress of the Republic of Texas created Navasoto County in 1841. which became Brazos County in 1842. Boonsville was named the county seat and a log cabin courthouse, the first of three in Boonville, was built there.
Prescilla (Millican) Barker's, husband, James Addison Barker, SR. came to Brazo's Co., Texas in Jan. 1830.
And, he too was in the next 300 families to settle in Texas.
Both, Prescilla (Millican) Barker Family and her husband, James Addison Barker, SR.Family were the First of the Pioneers, To the Brazos Co., TX area, making Prescilla a first generation Texas and her children second generation Texans.
