FUNERAL YESTERDAY FOR MRS. ISLA BOWLES
Mrs. Isla Bowles, 76, wife of Gratz B. Bowles, passed away Friday, January 15, in Detroit, Mich. Remains were brought to Sprague Funeral home in Palmyra, Tuesday morning to await funeral rites held Wednesday morning at Emerson Christian church. The Rev. Luther Lewis conducted the rites. Burial was in Emerson cemetery.
A native of Marion county, Mrs. Bowles was born in July, 1877, a daughter of George and Edna (sic) Brandom Parker. In Sept. 1899, she was married to Mr. Bowles and they made their home in Emerson community until about nine years ago when they moved to Detroit.
Surviving with her husband are two sons, Paul and Parker Bowles both of Detroit; one sister, Miss Marie Parker of Westminster, Maryland; one brother, Thurston Parker of Beaverton, Oregon; nieces and nephews.
One son, Olney Bowles, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Bowles was a member of Emerson Christian church.
