Page 3 Matrimonial Matters
Mr. William Harvey Wearen, the head of a prosperous hardware and grocery firn in Stanford, and Miss Katherine Baughman, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Baughman, were married at the Broadway Christian church, Louisville, at 7 P. M. Nov. 28, by Rev. I. J. Spencer. For some time past it has been evident even to the casual observer that the marriage would occur sooner or later, but the secret of the time and place of its consummation was guarded so jealously that the happy pair succeeded in driving to Junction City, reaching the city and being united before many of their friends knew about it. The object of the flight and secrecy of it was more for romance perhaps and novelty than anything else, since there was no parental objection to the union. After spending a couple of days in Louisville, Mr. and Mrs. Wearen returned to Stanford and went at once to the groom's home, where they are now pleasantly domiciled. It is customary to say that bride's are beautiful, that the man has won a jewel and use other extravagant expressions, possibly when they are not deserved, but we say it in good truth and with full knowledge of the character of Miss Kit, as she is as lovely of disposition as she is beautiful in person, and as engaging and captivating in manners as she is cultivated and accomplished. In a word, she is a perfect woman, nobly planned and will prove a treasure to her husband more precious than rubies. Of Mr. Wearen naught but good can be said. He is noble by nature, exemplary in conduct and honorable in business. The union of such a pair must prove a happy one and we wish them no greater boon than that their married life be as free from ripple as the course of true love has been smooth.
