Max was born on Feb. 12, 1929, in Sidney to Lillian and Fred Johnson. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, and retired from FWISD after 26 years of loyal service. The family would like to express sincere thanks for excellent care and love from Walnut Creek Assisted Living, Heart-to-Heart Hospice Care and longtime friend and personal doctor, Dr. Chandramohan Mudaliar. Max was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Joycelene Johnson.
Survivors: Daughters, Teresa Dunlap and husband, Marcus, and Deborah Couch and husband, Steve; grandchildren, Joey Couch and wife, Laura Jean, Natalie Shanks and husband, Joe, Ashley Horn and Sydney Couch; great-grandchildren, Samuel Max Horn, Tiffany and Courtney Shanks; brother, Paul Durwood Johnson; sister, Blanche Dabney; and numerous other relatives and friends.
