James Luther Adams - 08/27/1934 – 01/13/2022

James was born August 27, 1934, in Brownwood, Texas; the second child of Brownell Adams and Juanita Iris Green. He grew up in Brownwood, working on friends farms, helping his grandparents and learning to work on and rebuild cars.

He met Wilda Ray in high school and they quickly became an Item. He graduated a year early and enlisted in the US Air Force at Seventeen, beginning a career he loved and excelled in.
James and Wilda married February 14th, 1953. They were often separated by his military career during their marriage, but remained committed to each other and their family.
Janice was born in 1956 in San Antonio. 18 months later she and Wilda joined James in England. James (Jim) Jr. followed in 1958. After his tour in England they returned to San Antonio, and Julie joined the family in 1961. Over the next 15 years we all travelled to many exciting places including Hawaii and Japan. James also had tours in Pakistan and Viet Nam. James was active in his church at the many locations where we lived, always finding a place to serve.

After retiring from the military, he went to work for Austin Community College, Completing an Associates Degree and becoming a certified peace officer in his duties as head of campus security and director of the physical plant. He took early retirement at age 57, bought a travel trailer and he and Wilda volunteered with the Baptist General Convention of Texas Campers on Mission, travelling to different locations across Texas, building churches, repairing damage from storms, cooking and serving in whatever capacity was necessary.

James and Wilda sold their home in Austin, and travelled in their trailer across the lower 48 seeing family and friends for a couple of years until family needs brought them to Lake Coleman, Texas. Shortly after settling there, Wilda was diagnosed with cancer, and passed April 27,1993. James continued to live at lake Coleman until he met and married Betty Sharp, August 19, 2000. After their marriage he moved to her home in Arlington where he resided until shortly before his death. He was most fortunate. He lived a full and active life. His faith was central to his core. He was deeply loved by two special women and will be deeply missed by all of us who are left behind.
