Weslaco Soldier's Reburial Tuesday

WESLACO - Military reburial rites will be held next week for Sgt. Joe L. Garza, Weslaco soldier killed over Germany on Aug. 7, 1944. Rites tentatively have been set for Tuesday. Sgt. Garza, 22 at the time of his death, was an aerial gunner on a B-24. The Joe Garza Catholic War Veterans post in Weslaco was named for Garza. The Catholic War Veterans, commanded by Manuel Garza, and the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars will participate in the graveside services at the Weslaco cemetery. Prior to graveside services, rites will be held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church with the Rev. Father James R. Cassidy officiating. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andres Garza; his brother, Jesus, of Monterrey, Mexico, and his sister, Maria, of Weslaco.
