Alma Schneider, daughter of Joseph and Rebecca Schneider, was born in Georgetown, Indiana, February 3, 1881, but came with her parents to Athens, Illinois, when two years of age, where she grew to womanhood and continued to reside there until November 24, 1909, when she was united in marriage with Mr. Edward R. Branson, of Petersburg. Soon after their marriage they took up their residence in Springfield, where they made their home until about one week before the death of the wife, when they departed for Albuquerque, New Mexico, hoping that a change of climate would be beneficial to her health. The change seemed to revive her for a few days, but she soon began to grow weaker and all that medical aid and loving kindred could do availed nothing, and the spirit left the wasted and tired body, Friday morning, May 19, 1911. Mrs. Branson leaves to mourn her early departure, an aged mother, a kind and devoted husband, a little daughter, Janet Virginia, aged four months, two brothers, Edgar of St. Louis, Mo., and Everett of Athens, and a multitude of friends.
