Mrs. Gladys Barnett, 64, of 502 West Franklin Street, Delphi, died at the family residence at 8:30 Monday night. Her death was sudden and was attributed to a heart attack.
Born Sept. 11, 1898 in Clinton county, she was the daughter of David and Dora M. Lewis Merkle. Her marriage in 1916 was to James H. Barnett who died in 1959. She was a member of the St. Matthews Lutheran church of Delphi.
Surviving are two sons: John L. and Donald P., both of Delphi; three daughters, Ruth at home Mrs. June Mikesell of Delphi and Mrs. Orpha M. Heath of Monticello; a brother, David Merkle of Marion and a sister, Mrs Orpha Hanson of Lafayette. Rites will be conducted at the Eikenberry funeral home at 2 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Toby Rendleman officiating. Burial will be in the United Brethren Cemetery in Colburn.
