Luther Hugh Summers, 80, of Midland, Texas, passed away on May 27, 2011 at his home with his wife, children and grandchildren by his side. Hugh was born in Galveston, Texas on April 28, 1931, to Murell and Margaret Summers. His family moved to El Paso, Texas, when he was in his early teens and he graduated from Ysleta High School. After he graduated, Hugh served in the Army during the Korean War. After his service, he returned to work for Mountain Bell Telephone Company and continued to support his mother, brothers and sisters after the death of his father. He met his wife in El Paso, where they married and started their family. His wife and his three daughters moved to Midland in 1983 where he began work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. He worked for the phone company for 42 years and began his own business, CRT Company after retirement. Hugh will be remembered for his deep love of family, his great sense of humor, and his strong work ethic. He loved traveling, camping, diesel trucks and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was very proud of his six grandchildren; they were always the best and the most talented and they all loved their Grandpa. He was very active in their lives. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church for 28 years. He had a quiet faith and always attended mass. He was a well-respected man and a provider for all; he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Georgia Summers, his daughters, Agnes Yahl and her husband Michael Yahl, Peggy Glossop and her husband, Robert L. Glossop, Jr., Patty Pisklak and her husband, Joe Pisklak, his six grandchildren, Bobby Glossop, Brandon Glossop, Kavon Sharifi, Georgia Pisklak, Kathryn Pisklak, and Gwyndolyn Pisklak, his sister, Carol Lazenberry and seventeen loving nieces and nephews. On Tuesday, May 31st, a Rosary will be at 1:30pm and a Funeral Mass at 3:00pm at St. Ann's Catholic Church with Msgr. Larry Droll. Internment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Howard Owens, Hugh Lazenberry, John Drake, Bobby Glossop, Brandon Glossop and Kavon Sharifi. A special thanks to Dr. Michael Miller and his staff for all their hard work and guidance over the last twenty years and to Hospice of Midland for their care and support during his final days. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences can be made at: www.npwelch.com
