Obituary of Anna M. Brandt

Anna M. Brandt, daughter of Louis and Elizabeth Wilson, was born November 27, 1885, in Grant Township, Boone County, Iowa, and passed away in the Lutheran Hospital at Fort Dodge, Iowa, on January 5, 1963, at the age of 77 years, 1 month and 9 days.

She and her brother and sisters received their grade school education in the country school located on their parents' farm. She entered Paton High School in 1901 and graduated in May of 1904, using a horse and buggy for her daily transportation. Following graduation she received her Normal teachers training in Boone and taught in various schools in Grant Township for nearly 10 years.

She was married to Isaac Brandt on August 26, 1914, at the home of her parents; and together they established their home on the Brandt farm near Boxholm.

Two children were born to this union, Ruby Glendora Adeline and Donald Isaac. Mrs. Brandt became a member of the Methodist Church on May 25, 1901, and served in various organizations of the church until her death. She was a Sunday School teacher for the greater part of 57 years, being teacher of the nursery class since 1933. This was the position she held, with assistance at the time of her departure. She was present in class until one month prior to her death.

She was a loving and faithful wife and mother, and her home and family were the main concerns in her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her twin sister, Nellie M., who died in 1910; her sister, Hulda Freeburg in 1957; her husband in 1954; and two brothers and one sister who died in infancy, Rudolph, William and Matilda.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her children, Ruby and Donald; a brother, Frank Wilson of Boxholm; and three sisters, Mary Swedberg of Colorado, Delia Adams and Agnes Swanson of Boxholm; several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
