Death: Aug. 6, 1930

The death of Betsey W, Avery Copp widow of Belton A. Copp, occurred at her home in Thames street, Groton, last evening. Mrs. Copp had been an invalid for more than a year having remained confined to her room since last October, with the simple exception of riding out to the cemetery at her husband's funeral. She had been confined to her bed for the past six weeks.

Mrs. Copp was born in Buffalo, N.Y., May 7, 1860, the daughter of Christopher Lester Avery of Groton and Sarah Wisner Smith, formerly of Brooklyn. She was a member of Anna Warner Bailey chapter DAR, of which organization she acted as regent for fouir years, and of the Woman's auxiliary of the Lawrence and Memorial Associated hospitals. She held membership in the Society of Mayflower Descendants. As a member of the third generation of her family, she completed a century's continued residence by her family in her late home.

The deceased is survived by three children. Benton Allyn Copp, of Memphis, Tenn., Emily Avery Burrows of Poquannock Bridge, and Joseph Addison Copp of Groton; by seven grandchildren, and two brothers and sisters, Latham Avery, Judge Christopher L Avery, Mrs. Pierre L Schellens and Mrs. Archibald M. Main.
