KALBFLEISCH, CARL R. "BOB," 84, passed away at his home, Monday, July 16, 2012.

A Louisville native, he was a retired small business owner for the company he founded, Craig Business Forms. He dropped out of Flaget High School in his senior year, 1945, to enlist in the US Navy. He was a World War II US Navy veteran and he was awarded the World War II Victory Medal for meritorious duty aboard the USS Saint Croix at Bikini Atoll in the Pacific arena. In honor of his service to our country, Bob was awarded a diploma from St. Xavier High School in 2008 via the Kentucky Department of Veteran Affairs.

An avid baseball fan, Bob coached Little League baseball in Buechel for several years where he passed on his love for the game to the next generation including his son, Craig. As a young man, Bob played club ball with Louisville legendary player Peewee Reese. Bob tried out for the Cincinnati Reds as a shortstop, circa 1947.

He was a charter member of Woodhaven Country Club where he was a fixture of the golfing community and a member of the City Sales Club where he firmly believed the club motto, "The best way to help myself is by helping others." Bob was also a parishioner at St. Raphael the Archangel Roman Catholic church, a member of the Bonnycastle Club, the Flaget Alumni Association, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion's Highland Post #201.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph F. and Mary T. (Owens) Kalbfleisch, his wife of 34 years, Mary Lawrence Collard, his second wife of 16 years, Sonya J. Lammlein Williams; and brothers Joseph, Louis and Paul Kalbfleisch.

He is survived by his son, Craig Kalbfleisch (Pam); daughters, Ronda Williams and Merle Taylor (Virgil); grandchildren, Alicia Kalbfleisch, Heather Williams Velez, Aaron Taylor and Madison Taylor; two great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank all of Bob's medical caregivers for the compassionate care provided to him over the years, especially the staff of Louisville Cardiology Medical Group.

Visitation will be at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road, from 2 - 5 and 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at St. Raphael Church, with burial following at Resthaven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Bob's honor to the National Kidney Foundation online at or mailed to the foundation.
