Mrs. Eli Prettyman died at her home near Agenda, Thursday, November 18, 1915, at the age of 78 years, 4 months and 7 days.
Elizabeth Alexander was born July 11th, 1837, in Athens Co. Ohio. On November 7th, 1867, she was united in marriage to Eli Prettyman in Wirt Co., W. Va. The couple moved to Republic county, Kansas, and took the homestead on which she has lived 43 years.
At the age of about 16 years she united with the Christian church and continued in this faith until the time of her death. Of a family of 14, she is survived by one brother Robert Alexander of Cutler, Ohio. An aged companion, an adopted daughter, Mary, five grandchildren and one great grand child survive.
Mrs. Prettyman was first taken sick with paralysis seven years ago and until the time of her death was an invalid. Since July, she had been confined to her bed and death came as a relief to pain and sorrow.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Rath, pastor of the Methodist church at Agenda, and burial was made in the Willoughby cemetery.
