Not sure exactly where Daniel Moore was born, but from his dad's history, it could have been Orange County, VA (or PA or MD) abt 1760. He was the son of William Daniel Moore (1739-1800) and Mary Throckmorton Moore (1740-1779) (Proven from many Ancestry DNA matches). Daniel's siblings were born in Culpeper County and Orange County, VA.

Most people on ancestry say that his mom's name was Rachel Stone. After much research on the Internet, we find that this William Daniel Moore and Rachel Stone are from North Carolina and buried there, so this would be the wrong parents. William Daniel Moore on our ancestry shows he was born in Prince George County, VA, and his dad (William Moore) died in Surry County, VA in 1744 and named his son "William Moore" in his will even though his son's primary name was "Daniel". Mary Throckmorton Moore was born in Gloucester County, VA and died in either Culpepper County, Virginia, MD, PA or Monongalia County, (W) VA. Many ancestry web sites show that William Daniel Moore was married to Mary Throckmorton Moore, and the proof is in the DAR's book in the Revolutionary War records.

Daniel Moore married Deborah Poling 1765-1842. Deborah was the daughter of Martin Poling (1748-1819) and Rachel (Wyckoff) Poling (1746-1809).

Daniel and Deborah Moore had 10 children: Martin, William, Daniel, Richard, Joseph, Rachel, Mary, Samuel, Deborah Ann and Margaret. William (1789-1856) married Rachel Phillips (1792-1826), and they had 6 children. After Rachel's death, William married Catherine Burton (1803-1860, and this couple had 9 children. Daniel (1791-1855) married Sarah Bums, and they had 5 children. Richard married Mary Agnes Phillips, and they had 5 children. Joseph (1791-1847) married Mary Ann Cross (1791-), and they had 9 children. Rachel (1794-1870) married Benjamin Helms (1787-1870), and they had 3 children. Mary Moore (1798-1842) married Cross, and they had 6 children. Samuel (1801-1847) married Elizabeth Wright (1799-1868), and they had 7 children. Deborah Ann (1804-1850) married Barton Howerton Cross (1801-1882), and this couple had 14 children. Daniel and Deborah Moore had at least 64 grandchildren.

1820 USA census showed that Daniel along with 5 other people were living in Beverly, Randolph County, VA (now WV). We have US Census records of Daniel Moore from 1810-1840, and he & his family were living in Randolph County, VA (WV) then. Of course, Barbour County was not formed until after Daniel died. Daniel was actually living in Monongalia County (W) Virginia which was formed in 1976, and there are records that William Moore was in Monongalia County in 1776 and had 400 acres. All of the legal paper work from Monongalia County (W) VA was destroyed by fire in 1779.

Here is some more information for those wanting to become members of DAR: I am his 3rd great granddaughter and have been trying to find more information about Daniel Moore since 1970. This is basically what all I have learned in that time and in 2012 DNA results on Ancestry have proven this information to be correct, but it's impossible to find actual birth and marriage records on Daniel Moore. I have even gone to the Belington library a few times and couldn't find much.

North America, Family Histories, 1500-2000 for William Moore – DAR – Vol 086. William Moore married Mary Throckmorton. William Moore (1740-1802) was a member of the Convention & Safety of Virginia. He was born in King George County and died in Orange County, VA.

His theory is that perhaps Daniel Moore was married in Monongalia County, WV because Since no record of marriage can be found by this author for Daniel and Deborah (Poling) Moore it is my assumption that they were married in Monongahela Co. (W)VA since the county clerks office along with all of the personal records burned in 1799. On January 3, 1921, the state Capitol in Charleston, WV was destroyed by fire. Harrison County, WV was formed in 1784 from Monongalia County. Randolph County was formed in 1787 and Barbour County was formed in 1843.
There is another good book that talks about both Daniel & William Moore called "The Western Waters". By Violet Gadd Coonts. Page 48 talks about both Daniel Moore and William Moore and says that Daniel Moore of Moore's Run was the first Moore who could definitely be pinpointed as living in eastern Barbour County. Page 311 Daniel Moore – There is a Moore's Run in eastern Barbour County near Bill's Creek where William Barker lived in 1775. Daniel Moore came to Barbour County after 1787 and was over 45 years old in the 1810 census. Where he received his land is unknown, but he did reside on Moore's Run. A William Moore claimed 400 acres in Monongalia County and said he settled in 1776.
