Wife of James Overton Batton
Married May 20, 1867

Daughter of Moses Walls Keeney and Mary Huff

My Great Great Grandmother

Cause of Death: Cancer

Children:
Clara Anna Batton
Samuel Smith Batton
Walter O. Batton
Joseph Tillman Batton
William Ward Batton
Elizabeth Almara Batton

I haven't been able to find Caroline's grave yet, but she is at Paint Creek, I'm sure. Probably in the Ohley Cemetery. They owned property across from the post office that's on Keeney Lane. The turnpike took over the land they lived on.

Six or seven years after her death, her husband, my great great grandfather remarried.
At some point, he moved to South Charleston.

Her death records have her last name as Obatton because her husband was listed as James O. Batton which is correct but they wrote it James Obatton. They won't correct it with Ancestry or the WV State Archives. After several emails, WV did put a note on their records but the search listing is still Obatton.
