Our beloved father, Homer Franklin Owens passed away July 24, 2012 in Provo, Utah. He was born June 18, 1929 in Watts, Adair County, Oklahoma to John Thomas Owens and Delphia Mazie Martin.
John Thomas was killed in a train accident just before Homer was 2 years old and his mother later married Charles Edwin Price when he was nine years old. He was raised by Charlie and Delphia in Eufaula, McIntosh County, Oklahoma, joining the U.S. Navy shortly after high school. He served in the Korean War.
While stationed in San Diego, California, he met and married Helen Brady, February 28, 1952 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. He later earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City. He lived most of his adult life in Torrance, California, working for The Aerospace Corporation, El Segundo, as an aerospace engineer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife and granddaughter, Kristen Thayer; and survived by his children: Sandra Hayden, Paula Thayer, Charlene Hawkins, Marcus Owens and Lance Owens along with 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers; Charles, Wayne and Harold Price and sister, Shirley Nance. He was greatly loved and will be forever missed.
