Jacob M. Provines,89, Sumner,died Friday at Red Hills Nursing Center, Sumner.
He was born Oct. 25, 1889, son of Richard S. and Savannah Corrie Provines.
A retired farmer, he was a member of the Sumner Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Bryan Provines.
Surviving are three sons, Fred Provines, Springfield, Albert Provines, Spencer, Ind., and Rex Provines, Lancaster, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Carl (Katheryn Ruth) Shaw, Fayetteville, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Paul Provines, John Provines and Marshall Provines, all of Sumner, Ira Provines, Clinton, and Richard Provines, Mt. Carmel; a sister, Faye Bockus, Chesterville, Mo.
Services were held at the Sivert Funeral Home, Sumner, with Bro. James Rue officiating. Burial was in Waggoner Cemetery, north of Chauncey.
