Tulip Rutland
Birth: May 1, 2000
Death: Jul. 16, 2012

This is my baby girl Tulip. Or Toolip as some of us knew her. She was an awesome cat ... very mellow and very different from any other cat I've ever had. She never got into any trouble, unlike her sister Piper. She was known in my family for her meow ... or her "MAH" I should say. She loved to sit in the window and "talk" to the birds, lizards, and squirrels. She loved to chase the laser and also loved to play with her mouse toys. Tulip was a bit skittish and was the type of cat that had to come to you for attention. It took me YEARS to get her to where she would tolerate others. She loved her Momma, as I was her "person" and the highlight of my day was to come home from work and she would hop up on the couch and say "MAH". Some days she would sit and talk to me ... I'd say "mah" and she'd say it back. It would go on forever! If she was begging for treats, it always sounded like she was saying "moooommmmaaaaaahhhhhhhhh".
I knew something was wrong when she started to lay around and do nothing. At times, she looked like she was struggling to breathe. She would sometimes cough and it would sound like she had a bad hairball that would not come out and she was wheezing pretty bad. One night, I noticed her paws were swollen. So the next day, I took her to the vet and that's when I found out she had congestive heart failure. The doctor put her on Lasix 2x day. The hardest thing I ever had to do for Tulip was hold her down twice a day to shoot the Lasix down her throat by syringe. She would look up at me with her big eyes, as if to say Momma stop, I can't take this anymore. The morning Tulip died, I woke up with a sick feeling to my stomach. I could not figure out why, but something was not right. About 3pm on that day, I felt the sudden urge to cry. 2 wks after taking her to the vet, I came home from work and found her. She died right in front of her food bowl. It looked to me like she was walking by, had a massive heart attack (according to my vet,) and dropped right there. Now I completely understand what Tulip was trying to tell me. I fully believe that she died at 3pm that day, the exact same time I had to excuse myself from my desk at work to go to the bathroom and cry. I believe that was Tulip's way of saying "It's not a goodbye Mom, it's a See You Soon". While I am glad she is no longer suffering, she definitely was 1 of a kind and I am absolutely heart broken. I don't know what I'm going to do without her. I miss you baby girl ... forever and a day!

Cause Of Death: Congestive Heart Failure

When tomorrow starts without me, Don't think
we're far apart ... For every time you think
of me, I'm right here,in your heart.

Don't cry because it's over, Smile because it happened.
-Dr. Seuss

A pet is never truly forgotten until
it is no longer remembered.

Weep not for me though I am gone into that gentle night.
Grieve if you will, but not for long upon my soul's sweet flight.
I am at peace, my soul's at rest
There is no need for tears.
For with your love I was so blessed.
For all those many years.
There is no pain, I suffer not,
The fear now all is gone.
Put now these things out of your thoughts,
In your memory I live on.
Remember not my fight for breath
Remember not the strife.
Please do not dwell upon my death,
But celebrate my life.

My little girl,
My little friend,
I'm really going to miss you.
It's going to be difficult without you.

For the rest of my life, am I going
to be thinking about you?
Oh, yes, I am,
But the time came when you had to go.

I'll miss you, my baby,
I'll miss you, my friend.
I promise my love for you will never end.

In your finest days, I was with you,
Now without you, things won't be the same.
But, there is a higher power that we answer to,
And you heard Him call your name.

I'm really going to miss you -
Miss everything about you,
Your cuddles and kisses.

I know you fought so hard to be strong,
I'm really going to miss you,
But I know you have gone to a higher place.

I'm really going to miss you,
Quietly sneaking your presents from
under the Christmas tree.
Jumping and bouncing on the bed,
Playing peak-a-boo,
as I tried to change the sheets.

I'm really going to miss you,
But, I know you've gone to a higher place.
Where you can breath freely and run
without tiring.

So chase that squirrel and look up all your family and friends.
'Cause my mind can be at peace now.
For you're in the presence of everything good.
Oh, the emptiness and pain.

I guess like they said,
we were the Siamese twins.
For when you were taken, along with you,
Went most of my Heart.
