John Edward Simmons, Jr. was educated in the public schools of Baldwin County, Georgia. In 1985 he graduated from Baldwin County High School in Milledgeville, Georgia. He earned his CDL from the Neilson Tracking Driving Institute in South Carolina.
His love for kids led him to drive school buses for the Baldwin County School System. Since 1996, John has volunteered his service at the Baldwin County Recreation Department working with young people in basketball and softball. He was fondly known as "Coach Simmons".
In 1997 John began employment at the River's State Prison in Hardwick, Georgia.
John was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, "Coach" and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him. He touched the lives of many people in the community of Milledgeville, Georgia.
