Laura Virginia Frieze was born June 10, 1857, in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, the 6th daughter (of 6) of Jacob and Susanna Wertz Frieze. She was also the granddaughter of George and Susanna Bowers Freeze, early settlers of Thurmont, Frederick County, Marylad. In 1884, she married George William Steiger, son of Adam and Rosina Katharina Breisch Steiger. They were the parents of 6 children: Myrtle V., Ella May, Edith Rosina, Pearl F. (died at age 14), Helen Frances and William Harold Steiger. Laura passed away December 29, 1927, in Mercersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, and was buried January 1, 1928, in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania.

H. of Coatesville, also one sister, Mrs. H. W.Brown of Chambersburg. The funeral services, conducted by Rev. Miller, will be held at the home at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, burial at Fairview Cemetery."
